Livermore Valley Arts is proud to be celebrating Juneteenth in partnership with Tri-Valley for Black Lives. Everyone is welcome to join the Livermore community at a premier Juneteenth celebration! Juneteenth is the US holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans. Juneteenth commemorates the liberation of the last slaves in Texas, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation abolished slavery in the Confederate States in 1863.
Livermore Valley Arts and Tri- Valley for Black Lives will be observing Juneteenth with a special event featuring a number of activities and are inviting you to join in the celebration! The Juneteenth celebration will take place in Downtown Livermore at the Bankhead Theater, 2400 First Street, Livermore on Saturday, June 21st. From 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, taking place in the welcoming lobby of the Bankhead Theater, participants can enjoy live music, vibrant art, soulful drumming, dynamic dance, powerful speakers, and inspiring performances by local artists. At 3:00 pm, join Faith Alpher for Freedom, Faith and the Power of Celebration; a chance to explore the rich history of Juneteenth and reflect on why it resonates so deeply today. These Juneteenth celebration activities are free and open to the public. That evening, come and hear the powerful sounds of the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir at 8:00 pm. Tickets for this performance are available here: livermorearts.org/juneteenth-jubilee-2025/.
