Purity Day Spa Offers Oasis of Tranquility to Help Shed Stress

Accupressure, Shiatsu Massage, and Skin Care Treatments are All on the Menu

Most people would agree that the dynamics of the current economy have added more stress to the workplace. This consideration was top of mind for Kathy Qiu, who opened Purity Day Spa in Gateway Square in May. Qiu's goal is to offer an oasis of tranquility in the midst of a highly charged business environment.

"Our business is to help people learn to relax while taking care of their bodies," Qiu observes as she explains the spa's mission. People nowadays are spending so much time at work, and the physical toll shows up in discomfort due to bad posture, tight muscles, and high levels of stress. "We are here to help soothe their bodies. No matter what our customers are seeking - massage, skincare treatment, waxing - we provide professional services in a calm, safe, and attractive environment."

Qiu, herself a licensed esthetician and massage therapist, had been searching for a suitable location to translate her vision into reality for close to three years. Once she finally found the right spot, at 4825 Hopyard Road, Suite F-15, she spent five months doing a remodel, creating a "very nice, clean, comfortable place to welcome our customers." The spa imparts serenity through big and little touches alike, from a soothing color scheme to restful background music to the shower room with hot towels where clients can freshen up after a massage or waxing, before going home or back to work.

While the company is new, its five employees-three full-time and two part-time-have years of experience in their respective fields. Among the five are two who have been trained in acupressure and shiatsu massage. Estheticians skilled in all types of skin care offer a variety of facials (anti-aging, hydration, wrinkle removing) using the latest equipment. Their services also include make-up lessons and application. "We can do make-up for special events, like weddings, or host parties for group get-togethers," Qiu notes.

Spa personnel can also be mobile. What better way to acknowledge hard-working employees than with Purity's outcall massage services? Qiu asks. A company can schedule one or more massage therapists to bring massage chairs on premises, whether to help workers deal with the stress of an impending deadline or celebrate the accomplishment of a major milestone.

Mindful of the long hours her target audience spends at the workplace, Qiu will keep the spa open seven days week, from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. "This will make it possible for people to come in after work to get a treatment," she points out.

Celebrating its own grand opening, the spa is offering a set of get-acquainted incentives: $15 off a massage or one-hour facial, or 20 percent off any waxing service.

Qiu is looking forward to serving the surrounding community. "This is a very busy location, and there are so many high quality companies nearby. Pleasanton is also an exceptional residential area. We are very fortunate to be here," she enthuses.
