ProBusiness' Growth Leads to Further Expansion in Park

New Products, Revenues Fuel Need for Additional Space

ProBusiness recently occupied this 29,260 square foot facility on West Las Positas Boulevard, its third office in Hacienda.

Amid a year of new products, new customers, and new growth, ProBusiness has leased its third facility in Hacienda. The company, which makes its headquarters in two buildings on Hopyard Road totalling over 200,000 square feet, now occupies an additional 29,260 square feet at 5959 West Las Positas Boulevard.

The new facility will house ProBusiness' Marketing and Finance Groups as well as a planned cafe which will serve salads and sandwiches. Approximately 130 people will occupy the new space.

It's the latest chapter in the company's long history in Hacienda. When ProBusiness moved to the park in 1992, the entire company fit in just 4,000 square feet of office space at 5934 Gibraltar Drive.

Comprehensive Outsourcing

ProBusiness began by offering back-office services, where a customer provided the firm with a list of employees, salaries, and tax information and let ProBusiness handle tasks like payroll and tax processing. They have since introduced front-office functions such as benefits administration and employee inquiry management.

That combination - which the company refers to as Comprehensive Outsourcing - allows ProBusiness to help clients integrate and outsource their payroll, benefits, and HR administrative functions.

"ProBusiness' Comprehensive Outsourcing offers employee inquiry management and front-office administration for payroll, HR, and benefits, in addition to our traditional back-office processing services," explains Brian Jaffe, senior vice president of marketing, ProBusiness. "These offerings make it possible for ProBusiness to offer clients an end-to-end outsourcing solution for employee administrative services."

It's an important advantage for firms that wish to focus their attention on their core business functions and leave the administrative tasks to a company that focuses on them exclusively. It's even more convenient because ProBusiness offers this full menu, which lets their customers expand on an existing relationship.

A Host of New Customers

One of the most recent companies to sign up for Comprehensive Outsourcing services is Sun Microsystems, which had previously used ProBusiness for back-office payroll.

The decision to expand the relationship came after Sun determined that their expected growth in employee headcount over the next five years would mean that their payroll department would have to double in size to support that growth. Rather than grow their own payroll staff, they decided it made more sense to take advantage of ProBusiness' services.

ProBusiness also recently began serving QUALCOMM, for whom they provide outsourced payroll processing services and World Wide Web-based services which give employees the ability to view paychecks and W2s online.

Other new clients that started services in the most recent quarter were ANC Rental, Associated Building Services, Avery Dennison, Bombardier Capital, Brinker International, Broadvision, Hoyts Cinema Corp., Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp., Office Max Inc., Charles E. Smith Residential Realty, TRW, Westvaco and YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago.
