Lucent Technologies and the Valley Spokesmen Racing Team will sponsor a day of bike racing in Hacienda on July 11, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The races will include the Northern California/Nevada State Criterium Championships for Junior Boys and Girls.

The Corporate Kid's Challenge - Free Bike Races For Kids!

At 10:45 a.m. a special two-lap race will be conducted for kids aged 8 to 12. No experience is necessary, and there is no registration fee for the event. This race is designed to introduce kids to the sport of bike racing. Experienced adult racers will be on hand following the kids to offer help and advice. Every child who participates in this race will be awarded a medal. Any type of two-wheeled bike can be used and helmets are required. Parents will need to register their kids and sign a standard participation waiver, so arrive at least 45 minutes before the race to register. Last year, several children of Livingston/Lucent employees participated in this race.

Also, there will be food, entertainment and prize drawings for spectators. Bring your kids out for a fun, free race and make a day of it.
